If it was pure logic than how does one place value judgments on different decisions. Put another way, captain Kirk trumps Spock in important decisions. The two work together well though!!! I know my brother will like that comparison.
Star Trek references! Hooray! Me like!
And don't forget Data and his quest to achieve emotions, to become more human, and to "rise above his original programming."

Andy invited me to this group saying that the discussions are all based on science and logic, not emotion. I told him I would have some trouble with that because my beliefs are based on all 3. For the purpose of this message board I will remove the 3rd from discussions as much as possible, but know that my emotions (non-tangible pieces of my thought process) do play a part.

Sure, appeals directed strictly to emotion aren't very constructive, but even emotion serves an evolutionary purpose. We're more likely to dismiss out-of-hand things like appeals to tradition or authority. I say don't edit out your emotions
I agree that emotions definitely do play a huge part in our decision-making. We are not just "objective reasoning machines", nor should we be. Ultimately, we all seek fulfillment, and often our reasons "take a back seat". This is a big reason why people are drawn to religions and are reluctant to leave. This is also why atheists need to address people's emotional needs more if they want to win people's hearts and minds over to their cause. This is why this group and webpage is a good idea. It gives us a chance to share our thoughts and our feelings. This is also why the "Golden Compass" movie that my brother keeps advertising for is a good idea. It promises to show the emotional appeal of being an atheist.
