Great turnout last night. I counted 13 people total - doesn't sound like a lot, but it's double what we've put together previously and matches the
most the previous group was able to do. And we're just getting started.
We met some "new veterans," members of the previous atheist group. Jeanette was awesome in hosting us for the evening, and Sandie (treehugger) has introduced herself here on the board. I feel like a jackass - I can't recall the names of the two sitting with Sandie...help?
It was my first opportunity to meet (in person) Analogkid9 and Skeptigator, and I have to say I'm excited about what they will bring to the group. I see 'gator is off to a running start on the board/website/logo - let's try to keep up.
Infektid, great to see you back in the fold. YoSoyJu, Agnohumanist, Allen and Becky, I think you all get perfect attendance stars, and I personally appreciate your contributions to the discussion. And of course, the other two parts of the "unholy trinity" that made the trip to Indy with me, Andy and Chris, thanks for all you do.
Speaking of, Andy unveiled the intro to the cable access show, and it was incredible. Very cool stuff. The show is off to a great start.
We had a nice discussion about Thomas Paine and "The Age of Reason." I hope we didn't scare off too many folks who weren't able to access the "reading assignment." If we reach a good size for the group, maybe we can turn the reading list into a tighter-knit subgroup or something. I enjoyed it, though.
YoSoyJu brought up the ridiculous new legislation, HR 888, which basically seeks to force revisionist christian-friendly history down our throats. If you're not aware, please research it and take whatever action you find appropriate. Just don't expect Mark Souder to help - not only has he co-sponsored 888, he's just too busy prosecuting steroid users in baseball...because that's important to the nation...and Indiana has an MLB team...or not. He stinks.
As I said before, Skeptigator is taking the lead on designing a website and logo for us, so please give him your input; unless you have really terrible taste in those sorts of things. In that case, just lend your moral support. I'll be making some additions to the layout of the message board over the weekend, so if you have a wishlist, let me know, danteontario at gmail dot com.
Thanks again - let's keep it going...
