The Campus Freethought Alliance has a great booklet available in PDF form that describes how to go about organizing a group like ours, including forming a
constitution and a sample constitution in Appendix E. While the book is focused on forming a CFA group I think many of the ideas therein are applicable to our

Great minds think alike, ng - I downloaded CFA's guide a while back and sent it to a few people interested in campus groups. It's good source
material, for sure - even though it has a few college-specific elements.

I will check out that pdf. Here are two pages from Robert Price's book on heretics autonomous. A discussion group he ran. This is from his book,
"The Reason Driven Life" which is a response to Ric Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life" I disagree with the politics rule but the rest
is interesting and I can see why he did that to focus on belief and meaning. Here it is:

I agree the politics things isn't necessarily taboo however it should only be discussed where it intersects with science, reason and the religious. For
example, Bush is an anti-science douche bag. I don't think that ruffles too many feathers, maybe the douchebag comment but not the anti-science part
anyway. Making the wall between Mexico and the US a topic of discussion or social security is a scam and we should disband the IRS shouldn't be
"allowed" since, without having to realllyyyy stretch things, they aren't really applicable to the overall theme. Topics for the bar AFTER the
meeting, sure. Topics FOR the meeting, no.

lol! I am no log cabin Republican. An episode on Curb Your Enthusiasm made me ask around what the heck that was! I admitted to the Republican thing anyway,

Skep and I were e-mailing back and forth about 501c3 status. Here is a PDF I found by the IRS that has some good info about the status. Basically, we would have to incorporate first and then file for 501c3. |
